Trefoil Annual Meeting

Its regency town house with intricate ironwork lining historic promenades, squares and terraces are just a glimpse of what makes Cheltenham Spa one of the most stunning towns in the county of Gloucestershire, and a great host town for the 2014 Annual Meeting. The delightful town offers something for everyone; history, culture, shopping and array of cafes and restaurants in which to relax and watch the world go by. Home to the flagship race of British steeplechase horse racing, the Gold Cup and the main event of the Cheltenham Festival every March, it seems only fitting that this year's main event, the Annual Meeting, is to be hosted at the Racecourse.

Venture Abroad will be celebrating our 18th year of offering special Annual Meeting weekend packages for members of the Trefoil Guild and are also proud to be the preferred supplier of the Executive Committee for the third consecutive year! Keep up-to-date with all the highlights and happenings live from Cheltenham by following us on Twitter.

Following another fantastic Annual Meeting Weekend, we would like to thank all the Trefoil Guild members who joined us in Brighton and who made it so special. This event is always a privilege to be a part of and this year was no exception!

We hope you enjoy our little ditty of the event, summing up our experience of this wonderful weekend…

So ladies, a year has passed and the Trefoil A.M is here again,

And so comes the time to bring out my blogging pen.

How should I write it, to capture the memories we’ll share ?

A witty ditty secured the vote, of a weekend both special and rare!

Trefoil Guild Annual Meeting 2016: The Highlights

1 Jul 16

The stunning spa-town of Harrogate attracts thousands of tourists every year who come to enjoy its scenic gardens, relax in its historical spas and tuck in to its famous Betty’s Tea Room treats. For us and 2000 members of the Trefoil Guild, the draw to Harrogate this June was not down to the craving for the finest Yorkshire scones or the allure of the beautiful North Yorkshire countryside (although these were certainly welcome bonuses); we all made our way to North Yorkshire by car, train (or plane!) to attend the Trefoil Guild Annual Meeting 2016.

Aside from the meeting itself which was a huge success, made special by guest speaker Gervase Phinn whose humour and wit charmed the entire audience, the Venture Abroad team have clubbed together their highlights from the weekend…

20 Jun 16

20160619_192844We rise bright and early to a sunny morning after a somewhat late evening at our respective hotels. For us our destination for the day was Ripley Castle; somewhere most on the coach had not previously visited. After saying our farewells to our fantastic coach driver we all head out to discover the delights of Ripley Castle.

Day 2 in Harrogate

19 Jun 16

Following an early rise and a hearty breakfast, we set off on a guided walking tour of Harrogate – the best way to burn off the bacon sarnies!

As we journeyed through the heart of Harrogate, we got all the inside information on the town’s quirks and perks; from Agatha Christie’s suspicious ‘disappearance’ to the tales behind the town’s famous spa water. With time to admire the beautiful Valley Gardens in all their spring-time splendour before discovering Harrogate’s hidden gems nestled between cobbled lanes, we came away fully clued up on Harrogate history!

An indulgent evening after a long first day!

Views from the rooftop terrace.

Views from the rooftop terrace.

So my home for the weekend is The Yorkshire Hotel where today has been very much about getting everyone settled and checked in. So many people quickly catching up on friendships at reception before heading out to discover Harrogate… and for a good few the delights of afternoon tea at Betty’s Tea Rooms.

If you had five pounds to bet on whether Trefoil ladies have the ability to consume such delights and then continue onto enjoy a fantastic three course evening meal, I can confidently advise all to place their five pounds on the answer being yes!

Ladies… let our Trefoil Guild Annual Meeting adventures begin!

17 Jun 16

Another year on and we arrive in Harrogate to what is thankfully a dry Friday! One year ago I embarked on my very first Trefoil AM journey and I feel privileged to be joining you all once again as you all gather as friends to celebrate the wonderful work of the Trefoil Guild. As ladies start checking in I have a very funny feeling where their first stop may be… Betty’s Tea Rooms?
